Client: Balonne Shire Council
Location: Thallon, Mugindi, Dirranbandi
Services: Civil Construction
May – September 2024

Everest Civil was engaged by Balonne Shire Council to undertake critical pavement reconstruction works across the Thallon, Mungindi, and Dirranbandi regions, in response to significant road infrastructure damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Kirrily and subsequent rainfall events.

Delivered between May and September 2024, all works were carried out in accordance with the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) Treatment Guide 2020–2021, ensuring quality outcomes, safe construction practices, and long-term resilience for the Balonne Shire road network.

(01.)

(02.)

EXECUTION

Pavement repairs were completed at 19 locations across eight roads, followed by full unbound granular reconstruction at 38 locations across nine roads, restoring structural integrity to the sections of network most heavily impacted by the storm event. Two-coat bitumen spray sealing was subsequently applied across all reconstructed locations, delivering a durable sealed running surface. Works were handed over to Balonne Shire Council within the May to September 2024 program, with vital road connectivity and community access across the shire restored to a safe and resilient standard.
